Registration for monthly aid to Punjab women from today
Under the scheme, Rs 1,000 will be given to general category women and Rs 1,500 per month to SC women
The Department of Social Security and Women and Child Development is all set to roll out registration for the “Mukh Mantri Mawan Dheeyan Satkar Yojana” from Monday. Under the scheme, Rs 1,000 will be given to general category women and Rs 1,500 per month to SC women.
At least 2,087 anganwadi centres in nine assembly constituencies of Adampur, Anandpur Sahib, Batala, Dirba, Kotkapura, Moga, Malout, Patiala and Sunam have been identified on pilot basis. These anganwadis will function as primary facilitation and registration centres. Instructions have been issued for sprucing up these centres.
Hargobind Kaur of the Punjab Anganwadi Employees Federation Union, said though Rs 20,000 had been sanctioned for each anganwadi, the money was yet to be received.
“We cannot spend from our pockets. We should be paid Rs 100 per beneficiary. We are also demanding that smartphones procured by the department should be given to the anganwadi workers,” she said.
