Amritsar, January 23
Coming out in support of dissident Taksali leaders, the former president of the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC), Manjit Singh GK today opined that the Akali Dal must resolve its differences with the veteran leaders in the interest of the party.
GK, who resigned from the post after charges of corruption were levelled against him, today paid obeisance at the Golden Temple.
“The SAD should have a dialogue with the rebel veterans. If the differences are not resolved before the elections, it would dent the party’s prospects. Differences erupt in every party, but these should be amicably settled,” he said.
Criticising the DSGMC’s former president and Takht Patna Sahib Management Board head Avtar Singh Hit for his alleged blasphemous act of equating Bihar CM Nitish Kumar with Sikh Gurus, he said: “Hit has committed a blunder and he should clarify it before Akal Takht.” Hit has been summoned to appear before the Takht on January 28.
On charges against him, he claimed that these were planned under a deep-rooted conspiracy and the matter was under investigation.
Panjoli too wants matter resolved
Patiala, January 23
SAD vice-president Karnail Singh Panjoli has urged party president Sukhbir Singh Badal not to ignore hard-working and senior Taksali leaders in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.
In a letter to Sukhbir mentioning instances of seniors leaders being “sidelined”, Panjoli asked Sukhbir to take “right steps” so that the party does not face a defeat in the elections.
“In Patiala, senior leaders such as Sardara Singh Kohli and Manmohan Singh Bazaz have worked hard for the party. But, both these Taksali families were ignored and Jaspal Juneja was made the district (urban) president of the party,” reads the letter. Party spokesperson Daljit Singh Cheema said although he was yet to see the letter, suggestions from all senior leaders were welcome. — TNS
