AAP to contest next Assembly elections based on development in the state
AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal and Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann said around 70 per cent seats had been won by AAP in the Zila Parishad and Panchayat Samiti elections.
Kejriwal counted Yudh Nasheyan Virudh campaign, canal water irrigation, free electricity, village roads spanning 19,000 km, employment generation, focus on education, Mohalla Clinics and easy registry as the factors that led to AAP’s win in the elections.
"It is a stamp on the four years of functioning of the AAP government under Bhagwant Mann. This election is just before Assembly polls. It shows pro-incumbency factor. The 2013 and 2018 polls were a sham, no videography was done. This time 580 seats have been won by a margin of less than 100 votes. Opposition has won 319 seats of them," Kejriwal said while addressing a press conference in Mohali after the declaration of results.
Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann said, "It was a free and fair election. Former Congress CM Charanjit Channi made a lot of elections. Go and ask him the results in his area now. SAD that calls itself a rural party is third in elections."
On a lighter note, Mann said a probe is going on to know who cast the solitary vote for the BJP candidate in his village."
The Punjab CM said the party would fight the next Assembly elections based on development in the state.
On the issue of pollution in Delhi, Kejriwal said the Union Government and the Delhi Government should take steps to ameliorate air pollution in Delhi. "In Punjab, the AQI is under control, so it cannot be said that pollution in Delhi is because of stubble-burning in Punjab. PM Modi has no concern for air pollution when the whole country is facing an emergency-like situation.”
