Rs 5 lakh given for war memorial

FAZILKA: Fazilka Deputy Commissioner Manpreet Singh handed over a cheque for Rs 5 lakh to the office-bearers of Shaheedon Ki Samadhi Committee, Asafwala (Fazilka), for the development of the war memorial situated at Asafwala village, 7 km from here.

Fazilka, November 17

Fazilka Deputy Commissioner Manpreet Singh handed over a cheque for Rs 5 lakh to the office-bearers of Shaheedon Ki Samadhi Committee, Asafwala (Fazilka), for the development of the war memorial situated at Asafwala village, 7 km from here.

He said like every year, Vijay Diwas would be celebrated at the war memorial on December 16 to commemorate the martyrdom of 206 war heroes who sacrificed their lives while defending Fazilka town and country in the 1971 Indo-Pakistan war. He said a marathon race and cultural patriotic programme would also be held.
