Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh said on Monday that the government was coming up with new rules to regularise 40,000 contractual employees. The rules would be tabled in the next session of the Vidhan Sabha.

The Chief Minister said the government has given the best option to the agitating teachers at Patiala, given the fiscal condition of the state.

On yesterday's gathering at Bargari, the Chief Minister said it was unfortunate that the forum to raise the voice against scarilege and the police firing had been hijacked for political gains.

At the Bargari veneue, none of the families of those killed in police firing were present. The families of the two youths organised bhog ceremonies at their respective villages, where two Cabinet ministers were present, Amarinder told mediapersons here.

Reaffirming his resolve to punish those behind incidents of sacrilege and police firing, Amarinder said the SIT constituted for the purpose should be allowed to do its work. The SIT will place its investigations before the trial court, he said, adding that SIT was former on a unanimous decision of the Congress and Aam Aadmi Party on the floor of the house.

On petrol prices, the CM said no decision has been taken so far. The govt will wait till the month end to see the international fuel prices and then take a call on the issue.

Amarinder said he will never allow radicals to gain control over the SGPC. He described former CM Parkash Singh Badal as an opportunist.
