The Sangrur police have booked a couple for duping Pawanjit Singh, a resident of Chathe Sekhwan village, Sangrur, of Rs 2 lakh on the pretext of sending him to Canada.

The police have registered a case against the accused under Section 420 of the IPC and Section 13 of Punjab Travel Professional Regulation Act at Sadar police station in Sangrur.

As per information, the complainant, Pawanjit Singh, had earlier submitted an application to the Sangrur SSP, with regard to him being duped of Rs 2 lakh by a couple of Rupnagar on the pretext of sending him to Canada.

After receiving the report from the Senior Superintendent of Police’s office, the Sadar police registered a case against the two accused — Rajan and his wife Rozleen. However, further investigation in the matter is underway.
