Sangrur MP Gurmeet Hayer elected unopposed as PCA secretary

Hayer says he is committed to taking cricket development initiatives to even the remotest regions of Punjab

Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer, AAP Member of Parliament (MP) from Sangrur and former Punjab cabinet minister, was elected as the honorary secretary of the Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) unopposed on Friday.

The election was held during a special general body meeting (SGM) at the PCA New International Cricket Stadium, where Electoral Officer Jagpal Singh Sandhu formally declared Hayer elected to the post.

Expressing gratitude to PCA members for their trust, Hayer said he stood committed to taking cricket development initiatives to even the remotest regions of Punjab.

"I solicit the support of all to work towards building a robust cricketing ecosystem that not only produces outstanding players but also upholds the spirit and integrity of the game," he said.

Hayer previously served as the sports minister in the AAP government in Punjab, where he gained recognition for introducing a sports policy aimed at identifying and nurturing raw talent and honing the skills of budding players.

Known for his progressive and people-centric approach, the Sangrur MP has consistently championed youth empowerment, sports development, and rural upliftment during his tenure in public life.
