The SGPC executive’s meeting at Sultanpur Lodhi on Thursday holds significance as the issue of replacing the Akal Takht Jathedar might be considered.
Reports have surfaced that “due to ill health”, Jathedar Giani Gurbachan Singh intends to quit and has asked the SAD leadership to find a replacement.
Though SGPC officials denied having this issue on the agenda of the meeting, sources said it could be discussed under supplementary list of agenda.
It has been learnt that for the time being either Takht Kesgarh Sahib Jathedar Giani Raghbir Singh or Takht Damdama Sahib Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh could be nominated as officiating Jathedar of Akal Takht till a permanent arrangement is made. — TNS
