Faridkot, July 1
The police rounded up some persons, including Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) president Simranjit Singh Mann, on Thursday after they reached Bargari, the epicentre of sacrilege incidents of 2015.
On June 1, at the assembly of many religious and political leaders at Bargari on the sixth anniversary of the sacrilege incident of Burj Jawahar Singh Wala, they had announced resuming the morcha from July 1 at Bargari.
Heavy police force was already deployed at Bargari and it rounded up Mann and six of his supporters.
Parminder Singh Grewal, Jaito DSP, said prohibitory orders on the assembly of five or more persons were already promulgated for Bargari, so the protesters were taken into preventive custody.
