The Bathinda police have arrested six gangsters following a brief encounter and seized an AK-47 rifle used in a recent armed robbery in Bhucho on Friday.

SP (City) Narinder Singh said two suspects were Army men and they had stolen the rifle from their unit.

The accused had looted around Rs 8,000 and four-five mobile phones at gunpoint from Green Hotel along the Bathinda-Bhucho road on March 11. Acting on intelligence inputs that the suspects were spotted in the Bhucho Mandi area, multiple police teams launched a search operation, he added.
