Faridkot, February 11

After a 24-year-old woman allegedly ended her life by jumping into a canal along with her two-year-old son here, the Faridkot police have booked her husband and his paramour on charges of abetment to suicide.

The bodies of Sharanjit Kaur and her son Tajveer Singh were found floating in a canal here near Machaki Mal Singh Wala village of Faridkot on Saturday.

As the bodies were unidentified, the police had taken these out of the canal and kept it in the mortuary for identification.

On Sunday, the father of the deceased, Darshan Singh of Dheema Wali village appeared before the police, alleging that his daughter was being harassed by her husband Bohar Singh of Gobindgarh Dabrikhana. He alleged that Bohar had extramarital relations with a woman and they had forced her daughter to end her life.

The police have booked Bohar, his paramour and mother Jaswinder Kaur.
