State board Class X pass percentage up by 28%

MOHALI: Girls have again out performed boys in the Class X examination, the results for which were declared by the Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) here on Wednesday.

Girls have again out performed boys in the Class X examination, the results for which were declared by the Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) here on Wednesday. The overall percentage of girls stood at 90.63 and boys at 81.30.

Of the 11 students who grabbed the top three positions in the academic category, 10 are girls. Similarly, in the sports category, of the six students in the top three slots, five are girls.

Of the total 3,17,387 students who took the exams, 2,71,554 passed this year, seeing an increase of 28.06 per cent. The overall pass percentage stood at 85.56, which has substantially improved than last year’s 57.50 per cent. Interestingly, this year total pass percentage (86.67) of rural students is also better than that (83.38) of urban ones.

Neha Verma, a student of Teja Singh Sutantar Memorial Senior Secondary School, Ludhiana, topped in the academic category. She scored 647 marks out of 650 (99.54 per cent).

The second spot has been shared by three girls, Harleen Kaur of Robin Model Senior Secondary School, Dhuri (Sangrur); Ankita Sachdeva from RS Model Senior Secondary School, Ludhiana; and Anjali, a student of BCM Senior Secondary School, Ludhiana; with 99.23 per cent.

Meanwhile, seven students jointly shared the third position by scoring 99.08 per cent. These include Abhigyan Kumar from BCM school, Ludhiana; Khushpreet Kaur of Sri Guru Hargobind Senior Secondary School, Sando Lehal (Amritsar); Aneesha Chopra from Nankana Sahib Model High School at Ludhiana; Jia Nanda of Dr Asha Nanda Arya Model Senior Secondary School at SBS Nagar; Damanpreet Kaur from Shaheed Bibi Sundari Public School, Kahnuwal (Gurdaspur); Jashanpreet Kaur from Government Senior Secondary School, Gulabgarh (Bathinda); and Soni Kaur from Government Model Senior Secondary School at Dholewal, Ludhiana.

In the sports category, three students — Nandini Mahajan of Bal Vidya Mandir High School at Nangal Kotli Mandi (Gurdaspur); Ritika of BCM school at Ludhiana; and Neeraj Yadav of Ludhiana’s Teja Singh school – scored a perfect 100 per cent to share the top spot jointly.

Jasleen Kaur of Government Senior Secondary School at Khamano (Fatehgarh Sahib) stood second with 99.38 per cent.

Ludhiana tops provisional merit list

  • Ludhiana grabbed the top slot in the district-wise provisional merit list of students
  • As many as 91 students of the district managed to be in the merit list comprising 324 students with cut-off of 97.38%
  • Hoshiarpur stood at second spot with 31 students followed by Sangrur with 26 students
