The Special Task Force (STF) arrested a Uganda national, Rabia, from New Delhi on Friday on the charge of drug peddling. Following her disclosure, the STF seized 1-kg heroin hidden at a place along the Tarn Taran-Patti road.

Rabia’s name was revealed by another drug trafficker, Kuldip Singh, who was nabbed by the STF with 260-gm heroin last month. Kuldip had told the police that he used to get the consignment from her.

Rashpal Singh Ghuman, AIG, said here on Saturday that Rabia had been arrested earlier by the Fazilka police on similar charges. She remained in jail for at least eight months before being released on bail.

Rabia was arrested near Chhatarpur Metro railway station. She was produced in a court and brought on three-day police remand. Sukhwinder Singh Randhawa, incharge, STF, Tarn Taran, said the contraband appeared to have been smuggled from across the border. The STF is also trying to find out if the woman was staying in India illegally.
