A powerful squall accompanied by heavy rain and hailstorm disrupted the ongoing farmers’ protest at Shambhu and Khanauri borders, leaving protesting farmers struggling to keep their camps intact.

Tents were blown away and essential supplies, including rations and bedding, drenched. Farmers worked throughout the day to fix their shelters. However, another spell of hailstorm and heavy rain in the evening undid their efforts, said Tejveer Singh.

The average maximum temperature went down by 0.5°C, compared to yesterday. It remained 1.7°C below normal across the state. The highest temperature (24.1°C) in the state was recorded in Bathinda.

Several districts witnessed significant rainfall, with Gurdaspur receiving 20.7 mm rain, followed by Hoshiarpur (20.5 mm), Amritsar (17.5 mm), Rupnagar (12 mm), SBS Nagar (11.9 mm) and Patiala (7.2 mm).
