New Delhi: The Centre has appointed Sukhwinder Singh Bindra as a special member of the National Consultative Committee on De-addiction and Rehabilitation. Bindra, who is also a national member of the National Institute of Social Defence (NISD) in the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, will look after Punjab affairs. Prior to this, he served as the chairman of Punjab’s Youth Development Department. Bindra expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment Virender Kumar for the appointment. TNS

Another erosion in Abohar canal

Abohar: Erosion in the Sukhchain minor near Abohar submerged wheat, maize, green fodder and orchards across hundreds of acres. This marks the second erosion this week, with farmers blaming poor canal reconstruction. They demanded an inquiry and compensation. OC
