A senior trade unionist MM Singh Cheema has appealed to the Prime Minister to take firm steps and present to the nation his strategy to tackle the Covid-19 pandemic.

Claiming that the lower segments of society had been hit badly by the lockdown, he said the middle class might also feel the pinch in the next two weeks. as their small savings get exhausted and their earning sources dry up.

Cheema said a serious handholding was required for the lower segments of society at this stage. EOM

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.

Restraint and moderation, rather than agitational language and partisanship, are the hallmarks of the newspaper. It is an independent newspaper in the real sense of the term.
