The body of an unidentified youth was found near the Industrial Training Institute (ITI) in Jaito town. It was first spotted by passers-by. According to the police, a tattoo on the youth’s arm was currently the only clue that might help establish his identity.

Jaito SHO Navpreet Singh said the body had been shifted to the Civil Hospital in Kotkapura for a post-mortem examination. “We are scanning missing persons’ record and trying to identify the deceased,” he added.

The body would be preserved in the mortuary for 72 hours to allow identification.

In another incident, the body of an unidentified youth was found hanging from a tree near a private school in Faridkot. The police received a call informing them about the incident. The body was brought down with the help of locals and taken to a nearby medical college and hospital. It has been kept in the mortuary for identification and photographs were being circulated through social media to trace the deceased’s family.

Another body was found hanging from a tree in a field at Malke village. The deceased was identified as Jashanpreet Singh, a resident of Burj Harika village in Faridkot.

Jashanpreet was reportedly the only son of his parents and an aspirant for the Punjab Police recruitment. He had been preparing for recruitment exams and regularly visited Malke village for physical training.

The police reached the site after receiving information and sent the body to the Civil Hospital in Moga for a post-mortem examination. Investigating Officer ASI Mangal Singh said statements of family members were being recorded and further action would be taken based on the findings.

Police officials have appealed to the public to assist in identifying the unidentified victims. All three cases were currently under investigation, with the authorities awaiting post-mortem reports to determine the exact cause of death in each case.
