Officiating Director of the local railway station Amrit Singh said trials were successfully conducted on the Amritsar-Jalandhar line in the afternoon (goods train) and evening (passenger train). “After evaluating results of both runs and securing nod of the Government Railway Police and the government, it was decided to resume rail traffic,” he said.

Trial runs were conducted to gauge the mood of people following the recent mowing down of 57 persons by a train.
