His resignation came a day after the Zira block chief of the party, Gurmandip Singh Khera, resigned from his position, saying he “totally disagreed” with the policy.
Both leaders posted their resignation letters on social media. When contacted, AAP district president Harjinder Singh Ghanga said he had not received any resignation. “I have talked to the party leaders who posted their resignations on social media. Hopefully, they will withdraw their posts,” said Ghanga.
Slamming AAP, senior BJP leader and former Punjab Cabinet Minister Rana Gurmit Singh Sodhi said the ruling party was “forcibly trying” to acquire fertile land across Punjab, including 313 acres in this border district.
Sodhi alleged that the AAP government was “misusing the Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act (LARR)-2013 Act by manipulating its clauses to facilitate land pooling without proper consent from farmers”.
