There were embarrassing moments for Sports and Youth Services Minister Rana Gurmit Singh Sodhi on Wednesday as he was reportedly made to alight from one of the vehicles in the CM’s convoy and asked to make alternative arrangement.
Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh had arrived in a helicopter at Mohlan village in Lambi area. From there he had to visit Jalalabad constituency by road.
As the convoy started from the village, Rana Sodhi, who was sitting in the SUV immediately ahead of the vehicle carrying the CM, was made to alight from the vehicle.
Khubi Ram, security adviser to the CM, was heard telling Sodhi, “You please come in your own vehicle up to the bus.”
Following this, Sodhi argued, “Meri gaddi lavao convoy vich, nahi te mai nahi jana. (You allow my vehicle in the convoy or I will not go.)”
As the two argued, Gidderbaha MLA Amrinder Singh Raja Warring intervened saying, “This is very bad, Khubi Ram ji.”
Finally, the tension was defused as Rana Sodhi’s private vehicle was allowed to be part of the convoy.
Talking to The Tribune, Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh denied the allegation of Rana Gurmit Sodhi not allowed to sit in a vehicle that was part of the convoy. Being in charge of an area in Jalalabad, Sodhi was travelling in another vehicle, he added.
Rana, who was travelling along with the Chief Minister, too, denied the allegation.
