Amritsar, December 18

A day after the Delhi High Court sentenced Congress leader Sajjan Kumar to life imprisonment in an anti-Sikh riots case, senior advocate and Aam Adami Party (AAP) MLA HS Phoolka paid obeisance at the Golden Temple today.

Talking to the media, he suggested that imprisonment till death was better suited punishment for Sajjan Kumar than capital punishment. He said he was also pursuing cases against other Congress leaders involved in the 1984 riots. “Hearing in a case against Jagdish Tytler is currently on and hopefully moving in the positive direction. We will also file appeal against newly appointed Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) honoured Phoolka with a model of Golden Temple and a set of books. SGPC chief Gobind Singh Laongowal appreciated Phoolka’s commitment in fighting cases of riot victims. Roop Singh, chief secretary, said Tytler and Kamal Nath should also be punished. — TNS
