Woman dies after roof collapses; husband, son injured in Phagwara

Phagwara, September 21

One woman was killed and two other members of her family were wounded when their roof collapsed on Saturday morning in Phagwara's Bhagatpura. 

The woman was identified as 30-year-old Sonia Tiwari. Her husband, 29-year-old Barjesh Kumar and 6-year-old son Shobit Tiwari were injurred in the accident that occurred at around 4:30 am, when they were asleep, police said. 

All three were rushed to a civil hospital, where Sonia was declared dead. The other two  sustained serious injuries and were admitted in the hospital. 

Police as well as councillors Sarabjit Kaur and Raj Kumar Gupta rushed to the spot. The councillors have demanded adequate compensation for the victim’s family. 

Barjesh was a popcorn seller who sold his goods in trains.
