Youth’s body found, kin suspect foul play

FAZILKA: The body of Shravan Kumar, a resident of the local Dhobi Ghat locality, who went missing on Sunday, has been recovered from Gang Canal.

The body of Shravan Kumar, a resident of the local Dhobi Ghat locality, who went missing on Sunday, has been recovered from Gang Canal.

Deceased’s brother Ajay Kumar said Shravan Kumar left the house around 8 am on Sunday, but did not return, following which rhe family members launched a search.

His T-shirt and shoes were spotted lying on the banks of Gang Canal near Khui Khera village of Fazilka district on Tuesday evening and later his body was also recovered from near the canal.

He said the hands of Shravan Kumar were tied with handkerchief and it is suspected that he was killed. He added that he had a monetary dispute with some persons of the town who might have pushed his brother into the canal.

The deceased is survived by wife, son and a daughter.

The police disposed off the case by registering it under Section 174 of the CRPC (unnatural death). The postmortem examination of the deceased was conducted at the local Civil Hospital. As per preliminary report, Shravan died due to drowning. — OC
