Moga, January 15

The district police today arrested Neeraj Kumar Ginny, a resident of Zira (Ferozepur), on the alleged charges of murder of a photographer, which took place September 14, 2013.

Ginny is said to be a close aide of Congress MLA Kulbir Singh Zira, who recently hit out at the state government over cops’ alleged connivance with drug mafia. A show-cause notice has also been issued to the MLA.

Sources claimed that though the police reportedly knew Ginny’s whereabouts for long, the timing of his arrest after the Zira episode has raised many questions.

Ginny was named in the murder of Rajesh Kaura, a local photographer, along with few others, but he eluded arrest and also did not appear in the court. He was declared a proclaimed offender on July 27, 2015.

A senior police official claimed that a .32 bore revolver and 20 live cartridges had been recovered from him.
