Zirakpur police issue 3,139 traffic slips in February, 3,299 in January

Traffic police have issued 3,139 slips for various traffic violations in Zirakpur in February till now. That's around 136 traffic slips daily. In January, cops issued 3,299 slips to the offenders here.

Police have been severe on violations near Patiala Chowk, Patiala Road, Tehsil Road, Metro point, Singhpura Chowk, Paras Downtown, and other areas in and around Zirakpur.

One day, more than 200 slips were issued, cops disclosed.

Police officials said wrong parking, wrong side driving, jumping traffic lights, helmetless riding, tripling, without seatbelts, and use of a phone while driving are common offences, adding that school children driving two-wheelers have been noticed.

Cops said 10 challans were issued for obstructing the movement of VIP vehicles on the road.

Zirakpur traffic in-charge Manphul Singh said, "Besides challaning, awareness campaigns are also launched from time to time. 50 reflectors were installed on various vehicles—including cars, jeeps, autos, and trucks—by Zirakpur Traffic Police as a fog-prevention safety measure at the end."

The drive was conducted to enhance night-time visibility and reduce accidents during foggy conditions, officials said.

Traffic police are issuing slips near the hospital and the Barwala road in Dera Bassi as well.
