In its bid to restore normalcy of the rail traffic after Covid-induced lockdown in the country, the railways have announced to run 40 pairs of more trains from September 12 out of which two would operate under the Ferozepur Division of Northern Railway. Both these trains would pass through Ludhiana. Reservation of these trains would be available on the IRCTC website from tomorrow (September 10, 2020), said railway officials.

Ludhiana-new Delhi flight in morning

Air India has announced to operate morning flights between Ludhiana and New Delhi on four days of the week (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday) from September 10, which eventually could be turned into daily flights depending on the response and demand. As per the new schedule, Delhi-Ludhiana flight would take off from Delhi at 9 am and reach Ludhiana at 10.15 am. The return flight would depart from Ludhiana at 10.45 am and reach Delhi at 11.45 am.

According to schedule released by Indian Railways, 05933 Dibrugarh-Amritsar Weekly Special Express train would run from Dibrugarh on every Tuesday and the corresponding train 05934 Amritsar-Dibrugarh would operate from Amritsar on every Friday. The other train to resume its normal run from September 12 would be 3307/08 Dhanbad-Ferozepur-Dhanbad Special Ganga Sutlej Express, which would run daily.

With introduction of 80 more trains (40 pairs) from coming Saturday, in all 310 trains would be running on tracks across the country. These trains would commence operations after some four months when Railways started first set of the IRCTC 30 AC special trains in May. Another 200 IRCTC special train services were introduced in June this year.

Senior railway officials said the passenger traffic on these special trains was being monitored. A policy decision had been taken to run ‘clone’ trains wherever there was demand or the waiting list was long.

“These 40 pairs of new IRCTC special trains will be monitored and clone trains will be started wherever required,” said officials.
