Rs 91 lakh cash recovered from car in Sriganganagar, 3 arrested
Preliminary questioning revealed that the suspects had direct contact with a gang and were carrying extortion money; investigation underway
Sriganganagar district police late last night recovered Rs 90.84 from a car that was stopped and searched on the Raisinghnagar-Srivijayanagar road. Police suspect it to be “extortion money” that three occupants of the vehicle were carrying.
Sources said that police set up a roadblock and searched a car, uncovering links to a gang. The investigating team was surprised to find bags full of cash in the car. Police apprehended three young occupants of the car and began questioning them.
Additional Superintendent of Police Rameshwar Lal stated that police were conducting checks on major roads at night ahead of the New Year events. On Sunday night, between 12 and 12.30 am, a police team stopped a car and questioned its occupants. During the search, the young men in the car tried to hide the bags, raising suspicion. A thorough search was then conducted, resulting in the seizure of Rs. 90,84,900 in cash. The car was also seized. All three occupants have been apprehended and are being interrogated.

During a comprehensive drive, aimed to dismantle gangsters’ ground network, Sriganganagar police had this month itself apprehended about two dozen suspects, who were being interrogated.
