Veteran BJP leader and former Vidhan Sabha speaker Rajiv Bindal was on Saturday unanimously elected the Himachal BJP president.
He was declared elected by party national general secretary Sunil Devdhar as no other candidate was in the fray.
Two sets of nominations were filed on Friday sponsoring Bindal’s candidature and his election was a smooth process.
Four national council members--Rakesh Jamwal (Sundernagar MLA) from Mandi, Sukhram Chowdhary (Poanta Sahib MLA) from Shimla (Reserved), Rita Dhiman (Indora MLA) from Kangra and Rajinder Garg (Ghumarwin MLA) from Hamirpur Lok Sabha seat were also elected with consensus.
About 300 members, including all elected presidents of 73 mandals and 17 organisational districts, party MLAs and MPs, presidents of various morchas and members from the state in the national executive and other bodies, constituted the general house.
A large number of workers gathered and performed ‘natti’ to celebrate the appointments.
