Panchkula, February 15
The special CBI court here adjourned the hearing in the Ranjit Singh murder case to February 24.
The CBI counsel had sought short adjournment as reply to the application of the accused, Sabdil, was not ready. Sabdil had filed an application seeking summoning of Satnam Singh, SP (H), Mansa, for decision in the case.
On January 18, the CBI had concluded its arguments in the case. Along with the jailed Dera Sacha Sauda chief, Krishan Lal, Jasbir, Inder Sain, Avtar Singh and Sabdil are accused in the case.
Ranjit Singh, a member of the dera’s influential ten-member panel, had reportedly developed differences with the dera head after the allegations of rape of sadhvis surfaced. He was shot near his fields in Khanpur Kolian village of Kurukshetra district on July 10, 2002. — TNS
