A collection of 39 books comprising Punjabi translation of William Shakespeare’s works by late Prof Surjit Hans has been handed over to the world famous Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre and Museum in London for international scholars. Prof Hans passed away at 90 last year.

London-based Punjabi writer Councillor Ranjit Dheer said the ceremony was held in the foyer of the theatre, where the set of translated works was handed over to Victoria Lane, Director of Archives and Libraries, Globe Museum. British Punjabi writers Mohinderpal Dhaliwal, KC Mohan and Darshan Dhillon were present at the event. Dheer said: “This is the amazing story of Prof Surjit Hans and his lifelong love of Shakespeare.” “The museum is assembling all known translated works of Shakespeare and the Punjabi collection is a welcome addition,” said Lane. — TNS
