Gurukul World School, Mohali, organised a community outreach programme on waste segregation with the objective of creating awareness about proper waste management practices among the residents of Sector 69, Mohali. The programme aimed to encourage responsible habits of segregating waste at the source to help keep the environment clean and healthy. Students of the school’s MUN Club — Ira Sunil Patil, Zohraan Singh, Jasraj Singh, Japniwaz Singh, and Japjot Singh — participated in the initiative. They visited the neighbourhood and interacted with residents, educating them about the importance of waste segregation and sustainable living practices. The students explained the logic behind the two-bin system — a green bin for wet waste and a blue bin for dry waste. They also highlighted how proper segregation helps in recycling, reduces landfill waste, and protects the environment. Through this outreach programme, the students not only spread awareness but also demonstrated a strong sense of social responsibility and environmental consciousness, inspiring residents to adopt eco-friendly habits in their daily lives.
