Mount Carmel School celebrates 38th Annual-cum-Founders Week Sports Day

Mount Carmel School, Chandigarh, celebrated its 38th Annual-cum-Founders Week Sports Day with vibrant energy and participation under the leadership of its Founders and Directors, Dr Earnest Charles J Samuel and Dr Annie Charles Samuel, along with Principal Dr Parveena John Songh. The day held special significance as it also marked the birthday of the esteemed Founder and Director, Dr Annie Charles Samuel, making the celebration even more memorable for the Carmel family. The event began with the scripture reading, followed by the welcome note and a march past led by Head Boy Aarav Samuel and Head Girl Avika Sharma. The school Houses displayed remarkable coordination and discipline, complemented by an impressive performance by the school band that added grandeur to the occasion. A series of energetic presentations followed, including a welcome dance and song, Mass PT, Aerobics, rhythmic Dumble Drill and a taekwondo demonstration. Students from both junior and senior wings showcased their athletic prowess in events such as 100m and 200m races, relays and various fun races. Former students joined the celebration and participated in a friendly tug-of-war with Class XI students, adding warmth and nostalgia to the event. Teachers also engaged in races and tug-of-war competitions, reflecting camaraderie and strengthening the bond within the Carmel community. The programme concluded with an award ceremony where outstanding athletes were honoured for their dedication and performance. This year's Best Athlete (Girl) was Gurleen Kaur of Grade XII-A and Best Athlete (Boy) was Sam Masih of Grade XII-C. The Founders and Directors emphasised the role of sports in building resilience, leadership and teamwork, while the Principal commended the students for their discipline and spirited participation. The event concluded with the National Anthem.
