Students and staff members of DAV Model School, Sector 15-A, Chandigarh, participated in a ‘shobha yatra’ to commemorate 202nd birth anniversary of Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati. The tableau presented by them exhibited a powerful message on the theme, “Path of the Vedas – A Drug-Free Society”. The tableau beautifully depicted a Vedic tree, whose roots symbolised great values such as truth, celibacy (brahmacharya), non-violence, righteousness (dharma), self-discipline, and purity of conduct. Through this representation, students conveyed that these ideals strengthen individuals, families, and the nation. Nearly 200 students participated enthusiastically in disciplined rows, led by the NCC cadets, school band, Girl Guides, and students of classes VI and VII. Through impactful slogans, inspiring messages, and attractive tableaus, the students raised awareness about the harmful effects of substance abuse and appealed to society to adopt the Vedic way of life. Principal Anuja Sharma, in her message, stated that the call to “Return to the Vedas” remains just as relevant today. If the younger generation embraces character, discipline, and self-restraint, society can be freed from evils like addiction.
