The Lahaul and Spiti district administration has decided to keep all educational institutions in Udaipur and Lahaul subdivisions closed till August 9 after the situation worsened following a flash flood on July 27.
Deputy Commissioner, Lahaul and Spiti, Neeraj Kumar said, “The flash flood had damaged road bridges, roads and pathways at several locations in Lahaul and Spiti, making access to educational institutions difficult for schoolchildren and teachers. To avoid any untoward incident, I have decided to keep all educational institutions closed till August 9 in Lahaul and Udaipur subdivisions till the situation improves”.
He said that the state government had decided to open schools from August 2 after a significant decrease in Covid cases but due to the flash flood the situation was not right for opening educational institutions in Lahaul and Spiti on August 2.
