The school celebrated Lohri with great enthusiasm and cultural fervour. The event aimed at honouring the rich traditions of Punjab while fostering a sense of unity and cultural pride among students and staff. The celebration began with host Saranpreet Kaur’s warm greeting in Punjabi, followed by a brief introduction of the significance of the event, emphasising Punjabi culture and traditions, by the school’s Punjabi teacher Rajkiran Kaur. Grade VIII student Gursimar Kaur shared the historical and cultural significance of Lohri through a short speech, educating the audience about the festival’s roots and values. Principal Charanpreet Kaur addressed the gathering appreciating the efforts of the students and reinforcing the importance of cultural pride. This was followed by the traditional Lohri bonfire on the school premises. The bonfire, symbolising the end of winter and the start of a fruitful harvest season, was the highlight of the event. The programme also featured performances of Lohri folk songs, where students from the Rhythm Club sang melodious tunes such as “Sundar Mundariye”. Students, dressed in colourful ethnic attire, performed traditional Punjabi folk dances like gidda and bhangra by Grade VI girls and Grade IX boys filling the air with energy and cheer. These performances were complemented by the distribution of traditional delicacies like popcorn, peanuts and sesame sweets, adding a festive flavour to the day. The event concluded with a group dance around the bonfire, bringing everyone together in the spirit of festivity and unity.
