The grounds of St Joseph’s Senior Secondary School, Sector 44-D, Chandigarh, reverberated with the soft echoes of Christmas bells, while handmade decorations wrapped the campus like a carefully chosen gift, prepared with love. Melodious carols opened the morning followed by spirited dance performances. The Nativity play was performed by teachers, a first in the school’s history. Young Josephians then voiced a few tender lines on ‘What Christmas Means to Me’. The soul of the celebration emerged in ‘The Stars Who Never Asked to Shine’, wherein teachers spoke about nurturing students’ holistic growth. The celebration was enriched by the presence of pupils from partner government schools, along with their teachers who were presented planters, representing growth, care and shared responsibility in education. Students who made outstanding contributions to the Animal Adoption Programme and the Wall of Kindness were felicitated along with their class teachers. Class teachers whose sections created the most impactful Goodness Bank and teachers recognised for providing a conducive learning environment were also honoured. Teachers and students carried forward a long-standing tradition with a visit to the Paediatrics Ward at the PGI, where a teacher, dressed as Santa, met children who have been fighting battles far bigger than their years. A Josephian team also visited SOREM, spending time with children in care, offering companionship, small gifts and the reassurance that they are remembered and valued. In her address, the Principal narrated the story of the boy who offered his loaves and fish to Jesus, reinforcing the power of small, sincere acts while highlighting the school’s compassion driven initiatives.
