Students of the Interact Club 'Prayaas - Ek Koshish' of Blue Bird High School, Panchkula, launched a meaningful eco-friendly initiative titled "Paper for Planet and People," combining environmental conservation with women empowerment. The project aimed to discourage the use of single-use plastics while supporting local women green grocers. Students prepared sturdy paper bags using discarded newspapers collected from the school community and distributed them free of cost to women vendors at local green grocers and vegetable markets across the city. Through this initiative, the students promoted the message of "Say No to Plastic" and sensitised vendors and customers about the harmful effects of plastic on the environment. By providing an economical and sustainable alternative to plastic bags, the initiative helped women vendors reduce operational costs, attract environmentally conscious customers and adopt eco-friendly practices. The Interact Club continues to actively engage in community-based projects that promote social responsibility and leadership among students.
