Laila Khan of DAV Public School, Manali, scored 98.14 per cent and secured the first and fifth positions in Kullu district and in the state, respectively.

The school recorded 100 per cent pass results in the HPBOSE matriculation examination. Laila Khan scored 98.14 per cent and made the school proud by securing the first and fifth positions in Kullu district and in the state, respectively. She got 100 marks in science and social science subjects. Vandana and Vanshika bagged the second position with 91 per cent and Vishakha got the third position with 89.43 per cent. Tanishk, Neha and Shivam Verma scored 88 per cent each and shared the fourth position. As many as 49 students passed with the first division, while 16 students scored between 80-90 per cent. A total of 21 students scored between 70-80 per cent and nine students scored between 60-70 per cent. Laila Khan gave the credit of her success to her parents and teachers and said she wanted to become a maths teacher. Principal RS Rana congratulated the students, their parents and teachers for their success.

To celebrate the upcoming International Day of Yoga, week-long yoga sessions were conducted for students. Every day various asanas were demonstrated by the students. Parents also joined these sessions. The importance of these was also explained to them.

Teachers attending an online global conference on ‘The new normal in education’.

Teachers, along with staff from other schools, educationists and leaders from over 81 countries, attended a conference on ‘The new normal in education’. It was organised by the digital confluence of teachers called T4. T4 was a five-hour long free global online conference that featured more than 1,03,543 global educators. Four key areas of T4 included leadership, well-being, collaboration and technology. Host Vikas Pota shared ideas and five ways that teachers should adapt for the new normal in education. The session also featured Maggie Mac Donnel from Canada and an art teacher from UK Andria Zafirakon. They shared the need to focus on the well-being of students and teachers. Mark Sparvell, an educationist at Microsoft also advised the teachers to adopt a beginner’s mindset while preparing for the beginning of a new education paradigm. Malala’s father Zindadin Yousuf Zai also gave a message that teacher collaboration at the grassroots level was crucial to uplift societies. Koem Trimmers, a computer science teacher from Belgium and founder of Climate Action Project, emphasised on how technology redefined education and said though technology could never replace teachers but might probably become the new normal. The teachers expressed their gratitude to the school management for providing the opportunity to be a part of the biggest global educational online conference. It was a platform where they could learn about the global educational practices during the unprecedented time of pandemic.

Sharda Sarvhitkari Model Sr Sec School, Sector 40, Chandigarh

To mark International Day of Biological Diversity, poster making and photography competition were organised by the Department of Environment, Chandigarh Administration, in which Krishma Sharma of Class VIII bagged second prize in junior category (flora) and consolation prize in same category (fauna). Director BS Kanwar and Principal Archna Nagrath congratulated her for the achievement.

Class III student Anvi Soni brought laurels by winning cash prizes in various online competitions.

Anvi Soni, a Class III student, brought laurels by winning cash prizes in various online competitions which were organised by District Council for Child Welfare Association, Panchkula. Avni secured positions in five competitions in age category 6-10 years. She won the first position in singing competition, stood second in storytelling and paper craft competition, got the third position in poem recitation and also bagged a prize in classical dance. Principal Gulshan Kaur congratulated Avni for her performance.
