As a large number of students of government schools are deprived of the digital learning mode due to non-availability of electronic gadgets, the Education Department has now assigned responsibilities to the teaching staff to take care of all such poor helpless students.

The authorities have ultimately realised that these deprived students need special attention through direct interaction of teachers with them. Majority of students studying in the government schools could not avail of the benefit of online learning due to their inability to afford smartphones.

“There are still a large number of students who don’t have access to electronic gadgets, Internet, television, etc. Therefore, it is felt that an intensive campaign of academic mentoring needs to be launched for hand-holding of each child. Nobody can do it better than the teachers,” a circular issued by Director, School Education, Jammu, Anuradha Gupta stated.

“All heads will ensure that every teacher is assigned the responsibility of personally contacting deprived students. At the elementary level, classes should be distributed among the teachers, whereas, at the secondary and higher secondary level subject-based distribution be carried out,” the circular said.
