Yadavindra Public School, Mohali

The school saw the commencement of the seventh Amanjit Memorial and second Maharaja Yadvindra Singh Basketball Tournament at the crack of dawn on April 10, a day after the school celebrated its 46th Founder’s Day to commemorate its establishment. While the Amanjit Memorial is dedicated to the memory of former student Amanjit Singh, Maharaja Yadvindra Singh Basketball Tournament pays homage to the legacy of the school’s founder. In this years’ edition, seven schools from across the Tricity are participating in the Amanjit Memorial Cricket Tournament and six teams are involved in the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh Basketball Tournament. The opening ceremony witnessed Director Major General TPS Waraich, welcoming the participating teams and encouraging the students to develop a love for the sport, while enjoying the connections they shall build over the course of the event. School Sports Captain Siddak Kaur took the oath on behalf of all participants. Amanjit Singh’s parents were also in attendance during the ceremony. The first day’s play witnessed YPS, Mohali, win a cricket contest against St Soldiers Divine Public School, Panchkula, by 128 runs and the basketball team from YPS, Mohali, clinched a convincing victory in their match against The Learning Paths School, Mohali, with the final tally at 47 to 24. The subsequent Pool B fixtures featured Strawberry Fields High School, Chandigarh, beat St Soldiers Divine Public School, Panchkula.
