Amritsar: Yoga day was marked by NSS and Philosophy Department of DAV College, with all the cadets did various yoga poses and the yoga guru also informing about the benefits of the asanas for the students. This programme was in collaboration with Indian Council of Philosophical Research. Principal, DAV College, Dr Rajesh Kumar while addressing the students said in today’s time Yoga has a lot of importance in the life of all of us. BBK DAV College for Women celebrated International Yoga Day with department of physical education as well as the NCC and NSS Units of the college participating in the event with great fervour. In her address to the gathering, Principal Dr Pushpinder Walia accentuated the merits of yoga in daily life. DAV Public School, Lawrence Road, held a special yogic kriya session was organised in the school premises. The students, faculty members and staff attended the session. The kriya session began with an invocation prayer followed by Anulom Vilom Pranayam and Bharamri Pranayama.

International Yoga Day observed

Indian Institute of Management conducted the International Yoga Day programmes in the transit campus and the hostel premises. While the event was conducted offline in the campus premises, the programme in the hostels, marred by rain, was conducted online. A brief introduction to yoga and a session was conducted in both the premises, and this was followed by the telecast of the message by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The instructors of the day were Bhavna Uttamchandani and Rajesh Kumar. Uttamchandani, a trained practitioner, has extensive experience in conducting yoga sessions and shares her expertise through her online community often. The event on the campus focussed on various techniques like hatha yoga, pranayama, meditation, and Kriya practise, where the faculty and staff of the institute came together to embrace the yoga way of living. The event in the hostel premises was coordinated by the Sports Committee of the institute, and had to be moved online due to bad weather. The event saw participation of over 240 students.

School kids perform yoga

Shri Ram Ashram Public School celebrated International Yoga Day in the school premises. The young brigade of students along with teachers and parents enthusiastically participated in the event. The day started with the spiritual chant of ‘Om’. Various Yoga Asanas like Vakra Asanas, Trikona Asanas and stretching exercises were performed along with the breathing techniques like “Pranayam” and “Meditation” were practiced. Principal Dr Vinodita Sankhyan conveyed the message that yoga is an invaluable gift of India’s ancient tradition to the world. It helps in increasing the attention and concentration which are important for all, especially the children. Its consistent practice would build strength, flexibility and confidence in us.

CKD to host seminar for teachers

A special seminar for religious, history and Punjabi teachers will be organised by the Dharam Prachar Committee as per the directions of the president of Chief Khalsa Diwan, Dr Inderbir Singh Nijjar. The seminar will be held at Sri Kalgidhar Auditorium of Sri Guru Harkrishan Senior Secondary School. Sharing information, Prof Hari Singh, Coordinator, Dharam Prachar Committee said in the seminar Prof (Dr) Balwant Singh Dhillon former Prof and Dean of Guru Nanak Dev University will speak on “Spiritual Experience of Sikhism and its uniqueness” and Sikh history. He said during the seminar, books written by Dr Balwant Singh Dhillon, Persian Historian of Sikh History and Guru Tegh Bahadur, would be released by Dr Inderbir Singh Nijjar.

Importance of yoga highlighted

Guru Nanak Dev University organised a special session on yoga to commemorate International Yoga Day. The session was led by students, who have prior training on yoga and was attended by students, staff and faculty members of the university. The session was jointly organised by the office of Dean Student’s Welfare and Department of Physical Education. Dr Amandeep Singh, teacher-in-charge, campus sports coordinated the session and Prof Dr Anish Dua, Dean Student’s Welfare of the University attended the session. Dr Dua highlighted the importance of holistic well-being and how physical, mental and emotional wellness is important for the good of mankind. He wished all student participants a productive future ahead and inspired them to adopt yoga in their daily routine. Dr Dua extended gratitude to the Prof Dr Jaspal Singh Sandhu, the visionary leader, the VC of the Guru Nanak Dev University and reiterated the commitment of institution to work for the well-being of University students. The Fitness Club, NSS and other departments also organised special yoga sessions to commemorate the day.

Schedule for online submission out

The online submission for May 2022 examination forms and fees for BEd Sem-IV for regular students of Guru Nanak Dev University has started through online portal http://collegeadmissions.gndu .ac.in/loginNew.aspx. Prof Palwinder Singh, Professor In charge (Examinations) said according to schedule, last date without late fee for students for printing fee slip/pay online/to select subjects on portal and generate the challan by colleges is July 11. He said that last date with late fee Rs 250/- is July 15; with late fee Rs 500/- is July 20; with late fee Rs 1,000 /- is July 25; with late fee Rs 2,000/- is July 29. Last date without late fee for deposit examination fee in bank and to submit cash/draft at university cash counter by the colleges is July 14. He said last date with late fee Rs 250/- is July 20; with late fee Rs. 500/- is July 25; with late fee Rs. 1000/- is July 29; with late fee Rs 2,000/- is August 3. He said the grace period of three days is already added in scheduled dates, so no extra time will be given.
