YouTube hit by major outage, thousands report issues

According to monitoring service Downdetector, reports of YouTube outages spiked sharply after 9.30 pm, with complaints quickly surpassing 3,800 as the disruption appeared to affect users globally. The majority of reported issues involved video streaming and the mobile application.
The outage extended beyond viewership, severely impacting the platform’s backend services as well. Content creators reported a complete inability to use YouTube Studio to manage their content. Multiple creators took to social media to report that both the mobile and desktop versions of these professional tools were non-functional.
As of Wednesday, Google and YouTube have not issued a formal statement regarding the root cause of the outage or a timeline for full service restoration.
