It is a weird world out there on the Internet. Journalist-turned-actor Saurabh Dwivedi’s glaring hammy acting in the new Saif Ali Khan-starrer Kartavya on Netflix has triggered a backlash, not only against Dwivedi but also bafflingly, against Arjun Kapoor.

Netizens are saying the honour of being the ‘Best Worst Actor’ no longer goes to Kapoor but to Dwivedi.

Saurabh Dwivedi, a well-known Hindi-language journalist, who until recently helmed a news channel called Lallantop, recently made his acting debut in Kartavya alongside actors such as Saif Ali Khan, Sanjay Mishra and came out looking 'cartoonish'.

Arjun Kapoor is paying for Saurabh Dwivedi’s folly. Arjun is once again facing online trolling after unrelated comparisons with Dwivedi’s performance in Kartavya.

Posts circulating on X include sarcastic remarks such as “My respect for Arjun Kapoor increased after watching Saurabh Dwivedi act in Kartavya” and “Unfortunate news for Arjun Kapoor, the ‘Best worst actor’ title has been taken away.”

Many observers feel this behaviour goes beyond trolling and symptomises online bullying.

Arjun Kapoor has addressed the harshness of online trolling, calling it 'cruel' and 'emotionally draining'. He has spoken about body shaming, nepotism debates, and the constant scrutiny of his work.
