For some years now, producer Prerna Arora is looking at the Telugu film industry as the fulcrum of the Indian movie-making industry. Her last film was shot in Hyderabad and featured Telugu actors. And now, she is shooting her next in a city she describes as “my favourite filmmaking location”.

It has now come to light that Prerna is planning to build her own studio in Hyderabad where filmmakers from the Telugu and Hindi film industry would be able to shoot films without having to worry about nitty-gritty.

Prerna says, “To me, the Telugu film industry has always served as a model as to how a film should be made. The work culture in Hyderabad is very time-oriented. Nobody wastes time. Stars don’t charge through the roof. They come on time and do their work quietly without making it seem as though they are doing the producer a favour. So yeah, for me the Telugu film industry is a breeding ground for terrific cinema.”

Prerna is looking at building a studio in or on the outskirts of Hyderabad where “there will be no Telugu or Hindi cinema, only audience-friendly cinema”.

She says, “The Tamil-Telugu film industry boasts of immense talent, globally recognised for its potential to reach the Oscars. Ek Duuje Ke Liye holds a special place in my heart. Its poignant storytelling and unforgettable characters have left an indelible mark on audiences across generations.”
