Romania’s Simona Halep beat Karolina Pliskova in a three-setter to place reigning champions Czech Republic in danger of being dethroned in the Fed Cup. In their World Group first round tie in Ostrava, Halep won the battle of former world No. 1s 6-4 5-7 6-4 to give Romania a 2-1 lead.
