Man City back on top after 1-0 win over Spurs

Manchester City returned to the top of the Premier League with a fifth-minute Phil Foden goal giving them a nervy 1-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur. The victory for Pep Guardiola’s side, three days after Spurs eliminated City from the Champions League, puts the pressure back on Liverpool who are at Cardiff City on Sunday and trail by a point with both teams having played 34 games. But City’s 10th Premier League win in a row came at a price with midfielder Kevin De Bruyne forced off with a knee injury in the 38th minute.

Juventus win eighth Serie A title in a row 

Juventus overcame their European blues when they fought back to beat Fiorentina 2-1 at home and claim the Serie A title for a remarkable eighth season in a row. Knocked out of the Champions League by Ajax in the quarters, Juventus fell behind to a Nikola Milenkovic goal in the sixth minute and survived two Federico Chiesa shots against the woodwork before halftime. But an Alex Sandro header and a German Pezzella own goal either side of the break wrapped up a record-extending 35th scudetto and allowed Cristiano Ronaldo to add to the league titles he won in England and Spain.

Former Oly champion Kiprop gets 4-yr doping ban 

Kenya’s former Olympics 1500 metres champion Asbel Kiprop has been handed a four-year ban for doping, the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) said. The 29-year-old tested positive for erythropoietin in November 2017. Kiprop had argued his urine sample could have been tampered with by his testers, who had tipped him off about their visit and taken a payment from him. Kiprop was awarded the 1500m gold medal from the 2008 Beijing Olympics after original winner Rashid Ramzi tested positive. Kiprop won his three world titles in 2011, 2013 and 2015.
