Pujara hits T20 ton; Punjab lose by 39 runs

Saurashtra's Cheteshwar Pujara hit an unbeaten 100 in 61 balls but his effort went in vain as Railways chased down a 189-run target with five wickets in hand in their Group C match of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trorphy at the Holkar Stadium. Pujara hit 14 boundaries and a six to take his team to 188/3 in 20 overs. But contributions from the middle-order helped Railways overhaul the target with two balls to spare.

Madhya Pradesh beat Punjab by 39 runs in their Group C match in Indore. Ranji Trophy champions Vidarbha beat Himachal Pradesh by three wickets in their Group B encounter at Surat. Haryana beat Arunachal Pradesh by eight wickets in their Group D match in Cuttack. Jammu and Kashmir beat Nagaland by nine wickets in their Group A match in Krishna. 

Iyer hits 147

Shreyas Iyer hit a blazing 147 off 55 balls to help Mumbai defeat Sikkim by 154 runs in their Group C match. Iyer’s 147 is the highest T20 score by an Indian. He surpassed the record of Rishabh Pant, who had scored an unbeaten 128 for Delhi Daredevils. Iyer’s 147 is also the 12th highest score by a batsman in the T20 history. — PTI/TNS
