Punjab horse wins Bengaluru derby

Muktsar: ‘Sir Cecil’, a colt bred at the Dashmesh Stud Farm in Sarainaga village has won one of the country’s biggest horse racing events, the Kingfisher Ultra Derby (Grade-I), in Bengaluru recently.

‘Sir Cecil’, a colt bred at the Dashmesh Stud Farm in Sarainaga village has won one of the country’s biggest horse racing events, the Kingfisher Ultra Derby (Grade-I), in Bengaluru recently. Trained by S Padmanabhan and piloted by jockey P Trevor, ‘Sir Cecil’ won the 2000m race in a time of 2:03.89. The Suraj Narredu-ridden ‘Star Superior’ clocked 2:04.36 to finish second. Owner Karan Kaur Brar, who has nearly 250 thoroughbreds in the Dashmesh Stud Farm, said, “This summer season we have won all the three events.  We are the country’s top stud farm owners now.” 

Brar's sons Tegbir, Harsimran and Karanbir are into the equestrian sport.
