Saha sustains finger injury, Pant in
Wriddhiman Saha walks off after hurting himself trying to gather a ball from R Ashwin.

Ranchi, October 21

India wicketkeeper Wriddhiman Saha suffered an injury an injury on his right ring finger  during South Africa’s second innings, and Rishabh Pant substituted for him in the final hour. 

The 35-year-old Saha was hurt in the 27th over when he attempted to gather a ball from Ravichandran Ashwin. Physio Nitin Patel examined him on the field before escorting him to the dressing room.

Pant become the second substitute wicketkeeper for India after an ICC rule change in 2017 — the first was Dinesh Karthik, who replaced Parthiv Patel in the Johannesburg Test against South Africa in January 2018. — PTI
