World Archery today warned the Indian federation (AAI) of “immediate suspension” if it goes ahead with two separate elections on June 9. Extending an olive branch to the de-recognised AAI, World Archery has also appointed its first vice-president Kazi Rajib Uddin Ahmed Chapol as the “mediator” in the process. Chapol will hold a meeting with the two AAI factions in New Delhi on June 7 in an effort to cancel both the elections and instead hold one election on June 24.

Semenya free to run without medication while appeal is heard: Court
Double Olympics champion Caster Semenya will be able to run in her favoured 800m event without medication to lower her testosterone levels until an appeal to the Swiss Federal Tribunal has been ruled on, the court said today. No time frame has been given for when a final ruling might be made. The Court of Arbitration for Sport had ruled the International Association of Athletics Federations regulations were necessary for XY chromosome athletes with differences in sexual development (DSDs) competing in events ranging from 400 metres to a mile. South African Semenya challenged the verdict in the hope of having it overturned. Reuters
